Promoting a new home for an exceptional school.

This proposed campus for the Wellsprings Friends School seeks to create a new home for the unique school that both supports and reflects its mission. A 3D model, video fly-through, and architectural sketch renderings were developed to communicate the design to the community, as a capital campaign was launched to fund the project.

Campus sketches.

A series of sketches serve as visual descriptions of different areas and views of the proposed campus design.

The dramatic silhouette of the main building creates a unique physical identity and strong sense of place for a school that never had a place of its own. (Architecture by Jan Fillinger of STUDIO-E Architecture and Justine Lovinger of Lovinger Robertson Landscape Architects.)

Rendering style and technique.

These sketch renderings were drawn with pen and markers on paper, in full color, then scanned and stylized digitally. By desaturating the color everywhere but on the focal point of the image, the eye is inherently drawn to it, and not overwhelmed or distracted. Yet, since the whole image was originally drawn color, the desaturated areas maintain the proper values in their greyscale form, giving the sketches their rich and balanced feel.
