The ShoeBox Races Past Shoe Collection Goal for Nike Reuse-A-Shoe

The marathon continues! The University of Oregon team running the “A Step in the Right Direction” campaign is doing such a fantastic job that they have surpassed their goal and collected over 3,000 shoes for Nike Reuse-A-Shoe! They’re still going strong, with the ShoeBox headed to the US Olympic Trials 2012 for Track and Field next week!

Collection goal reached, surpassed, and still going!

When the eager students of A Step in the Right Direction (ASRD) and the University of Oregon's chapter of Net Impact launched the shoe recycling drive benefiting Nike Reuse-A-Shoe and Hope4Hoopers, they set an ambitious goal of 2,012 shoes collected, in honor of the initiative’s inaugural year. The flagship recycling bin we designed and built, the ShoeBox Installation has helped inspire participation, becoming an icon for the movement.

Since Earth Day this last April, we’re thrilled to announce: the team has collected over 3,000 shoes, and they aren't stopping! In a couple of weeks, the popular ShoeBox will be relocated to Hayward Field for the US Olympic Trials 2012 for Track and Field. Stop by and toss in your old shoes! Let’s keep this going!
